It wasn't a positive experience on my treadmill today. The plan was to have two days rest this week - which was highly likely because of the mileage necessary for my quality run on Sunday and the lower total weekly mileage necessary for this week (only 70% of my peak mileage - 59.5km).
The treadmill problem I had on Sunday shortened my quality run by half - I panicked and skipped my rest day on Monday, then ran a bit too much on Tuesday. Today I had to stop my run about 1 km short because of a pain that developed on the side of my foot. I felt it when I woke up this morning - and probably should have taken it as a sign that I should rest.
I had a similar pain several weeks ago - but a few days of rest solved the problem. Up until today I had been feeling great. My legs were strong and the weekly mileage was becoming more manageable. Another reminder of how important the rest days are in training.
Tomorrow - will be a rest day. Regardless of how I feel when I wake up.
