My cold is full on - the sore throat has disappeared, replaced by the sniffles/stuffed nose. Overall I'm still feeling pretty good - but I have had naps the past two days (and I hate taking naps).
I did some online research to make sure that I'm not hurting myself by continuing to train. (My mother would not have been happy and repeated would ask not to over do it.) If the cold is above the neck then it's okay to continue to train - but maybe avoid the hard workouts. If the cold is below the neck in the chest (or a fever) then running can definitely hurt you. Running can help your immune system, but running too much can suppress it. The article indicates over 60 miles (96.6km) a week is the cut off line. Above that - you'll catch plenty of colds. Below that you're fine. I've pasted the link to the article below.
An easy run today - 10.28km. Despite the good weather, I used the treadmill. Because of my cold I wanted to stay indoors and force myself to go a slower speed than I normally would. I've reached my highest weekly mileage ever and I still have another run tomorrow - but we'll see how I'm feeling.
