Day 70

As I went to bed last night I realised that the problem with my foot had disappeared. There was no pain, no small protrusion, no visible signs that there had been anything wrong. I still didn't go for a run. I did my bike ride (1 hour, 21.35km) instead. I've got a forced off day tomorrow, a visit to the sports clinic on Tuesday morning, and then plans for a run Tuesday evening.

There were some positives/realizations from my setback.
  1. The stationary bike isn't that bad. I was dreading the (short) cold walk to the gatehouse, having to encounter people fighting over the exercise equipment and the monotony of riding a bike but not getting anywhere. The bike was always free, the people were very friendly (I saw the same ones over and over) and I got to read some of my book.
  2. I should be using my heart rate monitor more frequently - especially on the treadmill where I've had to run a slower pace than prescribed because I think my heart rate is jumping up too quickly.
  3. My legs have gotten a rest from the constant pounding on the treadmill. The treadmill has gotten a break too.
  4. I know where to go if I have any problems - I won't be hesitant to call up the sports clinic immediately so that any future setback will be reduced.
